About

My name is Anne Crossey and I have been studying and teaching about happiness and trauma recovery for 25 years. In 2000, after studying Philosophy, I completed an M.Phil in Psychoanalytic Studies at Trinity College, Dublin. Around this time I moved to West Cork and opened my acupuncture clinic which focused mainly on mental-emotional conditions. I still bring some aspects of Chinese philosophy to my work, particularly those around harmony and balance. Continuing my studies into the human mind, I completed an MA in Western Esotericism at Exeter University, which delved into the Jungian, Neoplatonist, and Existential understandings of mind and an MSc in Psychology (Brunel University, London) which grants me membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland. I've also qualified in various approaches to coaching, with a particular emphasis on trauma recovery and the psychology of happiness. I am an accredited CBT coach and, as well as having a post-graduate Diploma in Trauma and PTSD, I have been lucky to be able to train in highly specialised areas of trauma recovery from some of the top names currently working in the field, such as Bessel van der Kolk, Peter Levine, Janina Fisher and Arielle Schwartz, with whom I qualified as a Complex Trauma Specialist Level II.

As well as individual practice, I organise group and corporate classes for local businesses and mental health services, teaching people how we can increase our tolerance for difficult emotions to increase our capacity for happiness. For me, teaching about happiness is an extension of treating trauma and often also involves using CBT, DBT or EMDR to help resolve anxiety or difficult memories to strengthen our window of tolerance, which creates an emotional blue-zone. I've been invited to give talks about happiness and/or trauma at TCD, UCC, and various other Irish and UK universities and colleges.

I still live in West Cork and enjoy swimming, paddleboarding, going on campervan trips with my dog Freddie, bookclub, playing Bridge and continuing to learn everything I can about what I think is the most interesting topic- the human mind.

I am autistic and run a neurodiverse friendly clinic.
